Hudson Oaks mayor announces intent to run for sheriff

Apr 1, 2021 Hudson Oaks Mayor Marc Povero announced Thursday that he is running for Parker County sheriff in the March 1, 2022 Republican primary. Povero is in his second term as mayor of Hudson Oaks and was a three term city councilman before running for mayor. Prior to serving in elected office, Marc was appointed to the ESD 3 board of commissioners and the Hudson Oaks Planning and Zoning Commission. Povero is a 23-year law enforcement veteran, a sergeant with the Fort Worth Police Department and an FAA-licensed commercial pilot who supervises the department’s Aviation Unit. Povero said he believes it is time for a new leader and a new vision within the Parker County Sheriff s Office, according to a release sent out Thursday morning.

PCSO investigating death of man found lying in creek bed

Staff Reports Mar 16, 2021 The Parker County Sheriff s Office is investigating the death of Cody Robert Hammersley, 34, of Weatherford, who was found lying in a creek bed on March 12. Hammersley s body was located around 2 p.m. in the 2200 block of Northwest Parkway in Azle, according to the sheriff s office. The PCSO Criminal Investigation Division is conducting the investigation. At this time, we do not immediately suspect foul play, Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said. Although the investigation is still in its early stage, our CID investigators are looking into every aspect of this case. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner s Office, which is pending their autopsy results.

Fort Worth man indicted on counts of indecency with a child

Mar 16, 2021 A Parker County grand jury indicted Joey Lee Long, 35, of Fort Worth, on March 5 for aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 6 and two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact. According to the probable cause affidavit, Long was said to have committed the offenses on Feb. 1, 2013 at a residence in Springtown. The child made an outcry at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Parker County in March of 2019 when she was 10 years old. During the forensic interview, the child said Long touched her in a sexual manner. “The victim said she told the defendant to ‘stop,’ then ran from the room and told her parents what occurred. The victim said she believes that she was 4 or 5 years old when this occurred,” according to the affidavit.
