Parkersburg sales tax receipts remain strong | News, Sports, Jobs

ebevins@newsandsentinel.com PARKERSBURG A proposed budget revision before Parkersburg City Council on Tuesday would boost anticipated revenue from the municipal sales tax to its highest level ever. Council will meet in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in its chambers on the second floor of the Municipal Building. That’s a week earlier than the usual fourth Tuesday of the month in order to comply with state code requirements to lay the levy rates for the upcoming fiscal year. The budget revision for council deals primarily with increasing the estimate for the 1 percent sales tax revenue by $231,974, bringing the projected total for the year to $6,251,971.

Yuan Uy was chosen from among nominees around the state for the honor, which recognizes leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to live a healthy lifestyle, according to a release from the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg, which nominated him as its 2021 Youth of the Year.
