Criminal complaint details Parkersburg drug investigation | News, Sports, Jobs

cblack@newsandsentinel.com PARKERSBURG This week’s drug bust resulting in the arrest of seven people from Parkersburg stemmed from an investigation beginning in November. The Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force began a drug trafficking investigation and this month, the task force intercepted a conversation from a cell phone belonging to Mary Elizabeth Curran, 35, 1314 Spring St., Parkersburg, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court. “During the course of this investigation, agents were able to intercept copious amounts of communications to and from individuals detailing suspected sales or purchases of controlled substances,” the complaint said. Last week, Curran asked a known supplier of controlled substances in Columbus if he could bring her clothes, the complaint said. Clothing, or more specifically “shirts,” are common slang terms used for drugs, according to the complaint.

cblack@newsandsentinel.com PARKERSBURG Seven people were arrested Tuesday in connection with drug sales following search warrants and controlled purchases executed by the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force following a long-term investigation. In April, the task force conducted a controlled purchase of heroin from Toni Johnson, 56, 909 13th St., Parkersburg, through from an informant, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court. During the transaction, heroin was exchanged for cash which was documented by audio, video and agent observation, the complaint said. Following a search warrant of Johnson’s 13th Street residence Friday, 84 grams of heroin was seized along with multiple firearms and items related to drug sales, according to the complaint.

editorial@newsandsentinel.com VIENNA A Vienna man was arrested on drug charges Thursday by the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force and the Vienna Police Department. Vienna Police Chief Mike Pifer said task force agents and Vienna officers executed a search warrant at 10 a.m. Thursday at 912 16th St. in Vienna, stemming from ongoing investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine in the area. The search by officers yielded amounts of suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, and marijuana. Officers also located U.S. currency on the property, he said. Information from the investigation also led officers to a room at the Wingate (by Windham) Hotel, located at 1502 Grand Central Ave. in Vienna. At the hotel officers located Benjamin M. Nash, 36, of Vienna, and Dakota L. Riel, 24, of Davisville. A search warrant was then obtained by the PNTF for the room occupied by the two and a search of the room yielded suspected marijuana and U.S. currency, Pifer said.
