Creatives at Independent Arts are aiming to create a “positive record” of the lockdown on the Isle of Wight - which future generations can look back on in years to come.
As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, the Newport-based charity launched the Island-wide initiative ‘Looking Out From Lockdown’ - to celebrate the creativity of Islanders during the peaks of the pandemic.
The plan is to hold real life exhibitions after restrictions end, so save anything that can’t be exhibited online! If you can t photograph and submit work online, there will eventually be the option to use drop-off points. Charities, schools, care homes, businesses, clubs and organisations and events are all encouraged to get involved. Isle of Wight Lord-Lieutenant Susie Sheldon said: “This is an exciting project that should give everyone an incentive to concentrate their talents for a purpose. In these difficult times we all need a purpose to keep us motivated. Everyone has the ability to be creative in different ways and I am really excited at the prospect of seeing all the works and ideas etc that have come out of the time Islanders have spent in lockdown.
