Cases increased from 15,385 on Thursday April 29th to 15,434 on Friday April 30th and 434 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 21 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 8 cases are community acquired, and the acquisition sources of 20 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
Variants of Concern
The Health Unit says 884 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (an increase of 65 identified since yesterday).

Two hot-spot neighbourhoods in Windsor will be targeted with pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics for residents age 18 and older on Monday, the local health unit has announced.
Adults who live in, or perform essential work in, the N9A and N9C postal codes Windsor’s downtown and west end will be eligible for the shot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at yet-to-be-disclosed locations. Attendees must provide proof of address, or work identification or a pay stub to qualify. The province has identified both areas as having been particularly hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, and data from the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit shows vaccine coverage rates there have so far been low.
Pop-up vaccine clinics coming to 2 Windsor-Essex hot spots
Windsor-Essex residents who live or work in two priority postal codes will have a chance to receive a vaccine at two pop-up clinics.

The Health Unit says 11 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 13 cases are community acquired, 7 cases are outbreak related, and the acquisition sources of 13 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
