Multiple grass fires reported along K-4 Monday morning
Multiple agencies responded to reports of several grass fires along K-4 west of Hoisington near Olmitz Monday morning. According to Hoisington Fire Chief Jerry Strecker and Barton County Dispatch reports, multiple fires were reported in the south ditch of the highway between NW 30 Avenue and NW 110 Avenue north of Olmitz and west of Hoisington between about 6:45 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Monday.
Strecker said the fires were contained in the ditch, and extinguished without any injuries or structural damage. He said it is possible a damaged vehicle sparked the fires, but the actual cause of the fires is undetermined.
