Man dead after stabbing at Columbus apartment

Updated: 5:07 PM EDT June 1, 2021 COLUMBUS, Ind. A man is dead after an early morning stabbing in Columbus.   Police said officers responded to the Quail Run Apartments around 6 a.m. Tuesday on a reported stabbing.   Officers located a man with multiple stab wounds.   Medics transported the man to a Columbus Regional Hospital, where he died.  Detectives arrested 19-year-old Daniel J. Denny on a preliminary charge of murder.   The case will now be reviewed by the Bartholomew County Prosecutor s Office for possible formal charges. Related Articles

Mother charged in fatal crash that killed 10-year old daughter

Courtesy of BCSO COLUMBUS, Ind. – It was announced Thursday that Katelyn Mings, 29, of Columbus, has been charged in the fatal car crash that killed her 10-year-old daughter. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) was dispatched to East 25th Street, on January 17, regarding the accident. Upon arrival, deputies found Kaydence Mings, 10, deceased at the scene. The driver, Katelyn Mings, mother of the deceased, her infant child, and another passenger were also in the vehicle. Following an investigation by BCSO, the Columbus Police Department, and Indiana State Police, a preliminary report was sent to the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office. The prosecutor’s office announced formal charges on Tuesday against Katelyn Mings for causing a death when operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person less than 18 years of age.

A Columbus mother is now charged in connection with a deadly crash that killed her 10-year-old daughter.   On Sunday, Jan. 17, Bartholomew County sheriff’s deputies responded to East 25th Street, west of Bartholomew County Road 650 East, in reference to a crash. Deputies found 10-year old Kaydence Mings dead at the scene. Police said Katelyn Mings, who was driving the vehicle, and passenger Webster Gilcrease were treated and released for the injuries.
