Punjab Arts Council launches book Mutaliat Hamd-o-Naat

A book launching ceremony titled “Mutaliat Hamd-o-Naat” by the well-known poet and critic Naseem-e-Sahar was held under the auspices of Punjab Council of the Arts in collaboration with Halqa-e-Ilm-o-Adab. The ceremony was presided over by Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters Yousuf Khushk while Professor Dr Ehsan Akbar, Anjum Khaliq, Dr Fauzia Sehar Malik and Dr Farhat Abbas were included among guests of honour. The author of the book Naseem Sahar also gave a brief commentary on his book. Dr Yusuf Khushk, Chairman PAL gave a detailed account of Naseem Sahar’s book and termed the book an outstanding one. He expressed his hope that his creative journey would continue in future. A large number of people from literary circles participated in book launching ceremony. 63 drug peddlers arrested

Islamabad: Police have arrested 63 persons on charges of drug-peddling during an accelerated drive against anti-social elements. According to SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer, under the direction of IG Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman, a special intelligence-based campaign has been launched in the city. He said special squads have been constituted under Additional SP Islamabad Farhat Abbas Kazmi. He was of the view that the supply of drugs cannot be checked completely until there is demand in the society and added the police have decided to put a hand on the drug users. He said both young boys and girls are among the drug users and warned the parents to keep a check on their children in this regard. The SSP said that during the past two weeks, 63 persons involved in supplying drugs to youth were arrested.

Rawalpindi: The speakers at a ‘mushaira’ in connection with Burhan Wani’s 5th martyrdom anniversary at Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) expressing solidarity with oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) unanimously declared that the internationally recognised disputed territory of IIOJ&K has witnessed an upsurge in Indian state-sponsored draconian oppressive laws and amendments against the innocent Kashmiri people to further suppress and deprive them of their basic human rights, says a press release.
