Barbados could soon be making special provisions in its protocols for individuals who have been vaccinated and want to visit the island, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Kenneth George has hinted.
He gave the indication on Wednesday during the first quarterly general meeting of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) for this year, held under the theme
Tourism: Surviving Beyond COVID-19.
“Soon from now Barbados will be updating the protocols on the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc’s website that will indicate new guidelines and directions for persons who are being vaccinated overseas and wish to pass through Barbados whether it be on business or holiday. We are currently going through that process and very soon we will be able to update those guidelines,” Dr George announced.

Govt rapped over plans to vaccinate visitors

Reports of a plan by Government to vaccinate visitors to the island from next month, was Thursday knocked by the Democratic Labour Party (DLP), which contends the Mia Mottley administration has failed to inform the country about the decision.
The DLP’s spokesperson on Health, Paul Gibson, queried how such a move would be possible with thousands of Barbadians still to be vaccinated.
Gibson, a pharmacist by profession, said he became aware of Government’s plan via articles in two international travel news websites –

COVID-19 has naturally impacted deeply on many institutions across the world. The Barbados High Commission in the UK is not an exception.
I therefore spoke to the Resident High Commissioner for Barbados in the UK, His Excellency Milton Inniss, to get his views on how the High Commission has coped with the many local changes that have brought an abnormality to the operations of the Mission.
His Excellency began by saying that all operations were carried out through the lens of COVID-19 and therefore over the last fourteen months there had to be an adaptability by the office to meet renewed conditions and rules which were laid out by the UK government.
