BELOIT, Wis. The Rock County Public Health Department has announced a partnership with Walgreens to provide two community clinics for the COVID-19 vaccine.
The clinics are open to people 18 and older and will offer free doses of the Moderna vaccine. A follow-up clinic will be held four weeks later to administer the second dose.
The county hopes the clinics will make the vaccine more accessible to underrepresented groups.
“We have focused our outreach on the African American and Latino populations as well as the vulnerable populations,” said Rock County Community Health Education Coordinator Alison Chouinard. “We want to ensure equity and everyone who is eligible for the vaccine is welcome.”
A new mask order issued in Rock County eliminates the mandate for wearing masks outdoors and says it is OK for fully vaccinated people not to wear masks indoors while with other fully vaccinated people.
The Rock County Public Health Department issued the updated mask order Thursday afternoon. The order is effective immediately and will remain in effect until June 30, said Katrina Harwood, health officer.
The change is influenced by recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that says it is OK for people not to wear masks outdoors when in small or moderately sized groups of people that can space out.
