Mountain bike riders will get their chance to experience one of the most exciting new trails in the state, or at least half of it, beginning this weekend. The phase I section of the Palisade Plunge Trail, which covers the lower half of the route, officially opens to the public for the first time this Saturday. The phase I section runs 17 miles from Lands End Road down to the Palisade Rim Trail area. This section of the Palisade Plunge navigates remote, backcountry terrain with some sections of extreme exposure recommended only for experienced riders, according to a release from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

There Are a Few New Businesses That Are Coming Soon to Clifton

There Are a Few New Businesses That Are Coming Soon to Clifton The struggles have been tough on just about everyone so it s good to see new businesses popping up around town. Over the weekend Savannah and I hiked Palisade Rim Trail and on the way back into Clifton off the highway, we noticed two new businesses that will be opening soon in our area. The first is right off the highway at F 1/2 Road is a soon-to-be-opening Maverik convenience store with quite a few gas pumps. Any gas pumps being added to the area making it easier to fuel up is always a good thing.

Perfect Trail for First Time Hikers in Grand Junction Enter your number to get our free mobile app Let me be the first one to tell you I am not an experienced hiker, click here for proof, but I do enjoy it and have been on many of the trails here in Western Colorado. Some of my favorites being the Palisade Rim Trail or the Liberty Cap Trail but there are so many trails that I haven t tried yet. Since there is a long list of trails I still want to check off the list I decided yesterday was as good as a day as any to get outdoors. The sun was shining and there are plenty of trails within a few miles from my house. So I picked one that many people have mentioned to me before which is Lunch Loops.

No suspects found in assault at hiking trail

The Palisade Rim Trail was closed for one day this week due to what Mesa County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Megan Terlecky said was an unusual call for her office. At about 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday a woman reported that an unknown man hit her with a rock and attempted to take her keys from her while she was hiking on the trail. She was able to get away with minor injuries and call for help, according to the MCSO. No suspect was found. Multiple law enforcement agencies searched the area extensively on foot, with a K-9 unit, drones and a multi-mission aircraft with infrared equipment, the sheriff’s office reports. Investigators were confident that the suspect is no longer in the area.
