Clothesline Project spreads survivors messages of abuse, violence

NEWTON It s at times difficult to not burn out after hearing story after story of child abuse and neglect, said Kristi Young, the executive director of Ginnie s House Children s Advocacy Center.
There are some silver linings and success stories, she said, that make it easier to live through the tough moments.
One such moment came as she sat in her parked car outside Ginnie s House on High Street in Newton. There she saw a little girl, about 5 or 6 years old, skip and twirl as she left the building toward her mother s car.

NEWTON Wednesday s Clothesline Project to honor victims of sexual abuse, will be postponed until next week due to an inclement weather forecast.
Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Intervention Services (DASI), which organizes the annual event along with Ginnie s House Children s Advocacy Center, announced the postponement Tuesday morning.
Wednesday s forecast calls for up to a half-inch of rain with thunderstorms and wind gusts as high as 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
The event, which recognizes victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence has been rescheduled to be held via Facebook Live at 12:15 p.m. April 28. The first speaker is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., said DASI prevention and education coordinator Nina Tripodi.

NEWTON Two Sussex County social services organizations will present this year s Clothesline Project to fight sexual abuse and domestic violence.
The virtual Facebook Live event will be sponsored by Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Intervention Services, known as DASI, and Ginnie s House Children s Advocacy Center. It is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The Clothesline Project takes place each April as part of National Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month. This year s theme, We Can Build Safe Online Spaces, teaches community members to be proactive social media bystanders and practice providing consent in the age of technology.
