Boots in the Barn virtual program offered to dairy women

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host Boots in the Barn virtually, a program for women dairy producers. Boots in the Barn is a three-part series for women involved in a dairy operation or industry and will be held as a webinar series. The webinars will be Jan. 22, Jan. 29 and Feb. 5, via Zoom from noon to 1:15 p.m. CST. The Jan. 22 session will feature Sarah Adcock, assistant professor in animal welfare research/teaching at the University of Wisconsin. Adcock will discuss pain management for disbudding and steps producers can take to stay ahead of consumer concerns and changing industry standards for this procedure.

Wisconsin Ag News Headlines Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/14/2020 A University of Wisconsin-River Falls student was among 10 young Jersey cattle owners to be recognized for their accomplishments in the National Jersey Youth Achievement Contest last month. Colin Wussow of Cecil was selected from 15 outstanding youth nominated by state Jersey associations, based on their cumulative record through December 2019. He is majoring in agriculture business and minoring in dairy science and crop science. Wussow was active in FFA and was a member of Jersey Youth Academy Class VI in 2019. Meanwhile, Wussow also earned the V.L. Peterson Scholarship award in November, where he received $2,750 toward his education.
