Van Wert Post investigating fatal crash Thursday, April 15, 2021 9:48 AM CRANE TOWNSHIP – On April 14, at approximately 11:22 a.m., troopers from the Van Wert Post responded to a report of an injury crash involving two commercial vehicles at the intersection of US 127 and County Road 176 in Crane Township. A 2019 International LT 625 semi operated by Timothy Ray Webber, age 60, of Dayton, was southbound on U.S. 127 and began to make a right turn onto County Road 176 when his commercial vehicle became stuck in low hanging telephone lines damaged in an earlier traffic crash. Grover Hill woman dies in 2-vehicle crash

VW independent/submitted information BLUE CREEK TOWNSHIP A Grover Hill woman was killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of U.S. 127 and Township Road 48 in Paulding County. Karenann Winters, 76, was pronounced dead at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, from injuries received in the accident. According to the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ms. Winters was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu west on Township Road 48 at approximately 1:18 p.m. Friday and first stopped at the stop sign with U.S. 127, before continuing west onto the highway, where her vehicle was hit by a 1994 Dodge Dakota driving south on U.S. 127 by John A. Vibbert, 21, of Van Wert. Both vehicles ended up just off the southwest corner of the intersection.

Detention Officer Accused Of Bringing Drugs Into Jail

On Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021, at approximately 6:00 p.m., as a result of an investigation that has spanned several weeks, Sheriff Stacy Williams placed Detention Officer Brandy “Joelle” Guthrie under arrest and immediately terminated her from employment with the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office. Guthrie, who had begun her employment with the Sheriff’s Office in October of 2020, has been charged with Crossing a Guard-line with Contraband and Suspected Drugs and Violation of Oath of Office, both of which are felony charges. Shortly after taking office at the beginning of the year, Sheriff Williams had directed his staff to investigate complaints and allegations on criminal activity occurring within the jail facility.
