The pared-back Preakness saw a slightly muted party on Saturday, with attendance limited to 10,000, but plenty of local swells, politicians, athletes and a handful of celebrities showed up to soak in the scene after last year’s nearly fan-less race.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott on Wednesday announced further restrictions will be eased starting Monday.
The mayor announced all indoor capacity restrictions will be lifted at 6 a.m. Monday, except for the following, which are limited to 50% capacity: convention and banquet facilities, community halls and social clubs and indoor venues with live performances or movies or sporting events.
Indoor dining will require everyone to be seated, not standing, but there will be no restrictions on outdoor dining. While we are easing restrictions, we must still remain vigilant and guided by the public health recommendations. Particularly with summer approaching, we must continue to take COVID-19 very seriously, Scott said.
