Shooting, slashing in downtown Binghamton sends two people to hospital

Police are investigating a Sunday night incident in Binghamton that sent two men to the hospital, one with a gunshot wound and another who had been slashed in the face. Around 10:45 p.m. Sunday, patrol officers responded to the vicinity of Court and State streets for a report of gunshots, according to the Binghamton Police Department. Arriving officers determined shots had been fired in the alley just north of Court Street. While on the scene, officers were notified by hospital staff that a man had been brought to the emergency room with facial cuts. A second victim, also a man, arrived at the hospital a short time later. He was treated with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his back.
