The Stahly Open Mic this past Saturday was a big success.
The Stahly Open Mic event this past Saturday was a big success. Brandon stated, “I wanna thank everybody for coming out; it felt like the old days, finally getting back to normal. Looking to do another open mic on August 7.”
Among the many singers and musicians present were, of course, Michael Stahly, Jacob Harbour, Hunter Vanderberg, Dave Jones, Dennis & Kat Duo, Mike Hall, Charlie Carter, The Lonesome Bones and others.
Double A Produce will have its stand set up at 4963 N.C. Highway 704 East in Sandy Ridge, beside the Red Top Café, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Friday and Saturday. These boys will be selling watermelons, cantaloupes, tomatoes, pickling cukes, corn and more.
Killoe mother grateful as total of €18,000 raised for charity in memory of Micheál

Killoe woman, Gemma O’Gorman and her husband Joe have issued a heartfelt thank you to those who donated and supported their fundraising campaign in memory of their baby boy, Micheál, who passed away in March of last year.
“I cannot believe our fundraising efforts are now complete,” Gemma told the Longford Leader.
“The online Bingo Fundraiser facilitated by Jane Slevin and Mullingar Rugby Club on Wednesday, January 20 raised €1,850 with the Club Committee rounding it up to €2,000.
“On Saturday, January 23, Joe, Órnaith and myself walked the final kilometre of the Route 66 challenge we had set for ourselves which also fell on what would have been Mícheál’s first birthday.

Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in Stokes County, the Sandy Ridge Community Center is cancelling the Bingo Fundraiser scheduled for Jan. 16. We are, tentatively, planning to resume Bingo on Feb. 20. Please keep this in mind as all proceeds are for the maintenance and upkeep of our building.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the Rev. Lewis Hardie Dodson, who passed away Dec. 29, at age 100. He was one of 10 children and was raised in Sandy Ridge. He served in World War II and was the recipient of three Bronze Stars!
