Kuwait man detained in Pingtung for leaving Taipei hotel quarantine

Taipei, April 25 (CNA) A Kuwait man was detained in Pingtung Saturday after failing to provide COVID-19 related documents when registering to participate in a triathlon event in Kenting and later sent to a quarantine center in Kaohsiung, Pingtung Public Health Bureau said Sunday.
The bureau said it received a report from the event organizer that a Kuwait man in his 20s failed to submit verification of health or other required documents and staff at the registration site isolated him in a separate room before Pingtung health officials arrived to handle his case.
Over 200 students in Pingtung fall ill in suspected food poisoning

Taipei, March 12 (CNA) Pingtung County health authorities are investigating a suspected case of mass food poisoning after more than 200 students fell ill with diarrhea and nausea at Donggang Senior High School on Thursday.
The school in southern Taiwan said it began receiving messages of students falling ill late Thursday, and 231 students requested sick leave on Friday due to their symptoms.
As of 11 a.m., 146 of them had sought medical attention and 40 were under observation at local hospitals, according to the Pingtung school.
Chang Ming-chun (張明濬), who heads the student affairs office, said the students who came down with diarrhea and nausea all ate lunches provided by a supplier contracted by the school on Thursday.
