A man has been charged with driving, drug and firearm offences following a police chase at Grafton early this morning. At around 1am officers were patrolling the South Grafton area when they detected a Holden Calais allegedly speeding on the Big River Way. When the vehicle failed to stop for police, a pursuit began and continued for more than 40km throughout several rural roads. The vehicle eventually left the road and ended in a drain off the Big River Way at Clarenza. Police approached the 37-year-old driver who failed to comply with directions. A taser was used to help bring him under arrest.

Police investigating a homicide of a man in Christchurch are asking for anyone who saw his car to come forward. The car is a grey Holden Calais with the registration LDE987. Police said the car is believed to have left the Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust on Brougham Street at 11.15am on Saturday. It was abandoned 20 minutes later on Monsaraz Boulevard near Halswell Road. Police have continued with a scene examination at the housing complex today and expect to be there for at least two more days.
