UTRCA reminding you to be cautious near waterways

You’re being cautioned to be careful near waterways and to stay off all frozen bodies of water.
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority says rivers, streams, ditches and ponds are hazardous and they expect them to remain elevated over the weekend as runoff from the melting snow reaches the waterways.
They say banks adjacent to rivers and creeks are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard.
The UTRCA doesn’t anticipate any serious flooding right now but say low lying areas and parklands may be inundated in some areas, such as the Flats in St. Marys.
