PINELLAS PARK, Fla. UPDATE: The Pinellas Park Police Department says Hipolito Melendez has been found safe and is with family.
Pinellas Park police are searching for a missing man last seen Wednesday night.
Officers say 71-year-old Hipolito Melendez, who goes by Paulo, had just arrived in the contiguous United States Wednesday to stay with family members due to medical complications. But, Thursday morning, investigators say Melendez was no longer at the home, and his suitcase was gone. It is believed Mr. Melendez is attempting to return to Puerto Rico,
FHP: Brandon man evading arrest jumps into water, hides on island

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Rashad Cutler, 38, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after troopers say he jumped into the water off Gandy Blvd. and swam to a nearby island while fleeing from law enforcement.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a trooper tried to pull Cutler over on Gandy Blvd. for having a tinted windshield. The trooper says Cutler turned into a parking lot with a dead-end, got out of the car and began to run away.
The trooper chased Cutler westbound down the sidewalk on Gandy Blvd. until he jumped the fence at a yacht sales shop and then jumped into the water, according to FHP.
Pinellas Park businesses cleaning up after EF-2 tornado tears through industrial park
On Thursday, the National Weather Service confirmed the tornado was an EF-2 with 125 mph winds.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla- â Clean up continues in Pinellas Park after an EF-2 tornado tore through and damaged more than two dozen buildings in an industrial park off of Bryan Dairy Rd.
Thankfully no one was injured.

PINELLAS PARK Thousands lost power and several buildings were damaged by a tornado, including a home that was severely damaged, Wednesday afternoon.
Amateur radio operators reported power poles split in half and four structures damaged in the Bayou Club when the twister came through around 3:50 p.m.
UPDATE: Pinellas Park police Captain Adam Geissenberger says most of the damage was concentrated in an industrial area between Belcher Road and 66th Street along Bryan Dairy Road. There s significant roof damage, there s significant intrusion into the structures due to falling trees and limbs, but we have not seen a complete structure collapse. He also adds that no injuries have been reported. As of 7:00 p.m., Duke Energy reports about 12,000 customers without power in an area bounded by Pinellas Park, Largo and Seminole.
