MACON, Ga. A Bibb County deputy is dead after a stabbing at the Law Enforcement Center early Tuesday morning.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says the deputy was stabbed in the neck and taken to a hospital.
He died just before 4 a.m.
The deputy is identified as 30-year-old Christopher Knight.
A viewer shared photos from outside the jail overnight. It shows fire trucks, an ambulance, and several squad cars.

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) A sheriff’s deputy was stabbed to death with his own knife by an inmate at a Georgia jail early Tuesday, authorities said. Another law officer was injured, but later released from a hospital.
Deputy Christopher Knight, 30, was stabbed in the neck and died shortly before dawn Tuesday after being taken to a hospital, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.
The attack happened early Tuesday morning after the inmate, Albert Booze, made comments that he wished to harm himself, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Todd Crosby said. The deputies were attacked as they moved him to be placed on a suicide watch, Crosby said.

MARIETTA, Ga. – A sheriff’s deputy has been stabbed to death by an inmate who who took the lawman’s knife from him at a Georgia jail, officials said.
Another law officer was injured but later released from a hospital.
Authorities said the stabbing happened early Tuesday at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said Deputy Christopher Knight was stabbed in the neck and died.
Authorities said inmate Albert Booze grabbed the knife as he was being placed on a suicide watch after saying he wanted to harm himself.

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy, working in the corrections division was fatally wounded and a second deputy was injured, while moving an inmate inside of the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
It was reported that inmate Albert Dewitt Booze, age 22, was moved from one cellblock, to another, for causing disciplinary issues.
At around 2:26 a.m., inmate Booze was moved to suicide watch, after making comments that he wished to harm himself. Several deputies escorted Booze to an observation cell. During this time, a fight between Booze and deputies took place. Booze was able to obtain a knife from one of the deputies and used the knife to kill the deputy.
