The state of Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the country. However, a report prepared by the Medical Education and Drugs Department (MEED) of the Maharashtra Public Health Department said its mortality rate is lower than that of Punjab, Uttarakhand, Nagaland and Goa.
A "minor" release of oxygen occurred due to excess pressure during replenishment at an oxygen plant of Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) in Pimpri-Chinchwad in Pune district on Wednesday evening, officials said.
As many as 353 new cases of black fungus (mucormycosis) and 20 deaths were reported in Pune, according to the official data of district administration on Saturday.

Pune: The district recorded 5,222 active Covid cases on Friday (February 05) according to Maharashtra health department. As of yesterday, 449 fresh cases were recorded with 10 deaths in the last one day, pushing the case tally to 3, 88,299, some 1,373 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the Pune district after full recovery.
The increase in recoveries among Covid-affected people has further decreased the active Covid cases. Nine deaths were recorded in PMC and one in Pune rural yesterday. Zero deaths were recorded yesterday in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
