The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (
MPCB) regional office of
Pune on Monday issued a show-cause closure notice to the ready-mix concrete plant (RMC) near the Mamurdi Urban Forest Co-Operative Housing Society, following complaints from residents.
The order said the plant should be dismantled in a fortnight, otherwise the water and electricity supplies will be disconnected.
Locals claimed to have been suffering various health issues due to the RMC plant menace over the last seven months. MPCB sub-regional officer Nitin Shinde had earlier said that officials visited the society after detailed news coverage by this newspaper.

PSU aims to manufacture medication for mild cases in next 3 months, reinvent its flagging status
India’s first public sector pharmaceutical company, Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd (HAL), is ready to perform its role in the pandemic. The Pimpri-based drug manufacturing unit, set up in 1954, will produce oral medication to tackle mild COVID-19 cases in the next three months. The ailing public sector undertaking (PSU) says it is on the road to recovery, and started two new plants on Friday.

The deputy CM further informed the second wave of COVID is not yet over and the curbs and exemptions are based on the positivity rate. In comparison to last week, the positivity rate in Pune city has increased to under 5.3 per cent from 4.6 per cent.
