Deborah Cutting fined for St Leonards boogie on the beach

Police were called to St Leonards seafront after Deborah Cutting tried to host an illegal dance gathering. The 54-year-old admitted breaching the Coronavirus Act when she appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court. She “refused to cease and leave the area” the court was told, and then “refused to give personal details in order for the matter to be dealt with by other means”. Cutting, of Bexhill Road, St Leonards, had organised an event called “Boogie on the Beach”. It is not the first gathering that police have been called to during the Covid-19 lockdown in Sussex. Officers had arrived at the site in Trinity Place to find 30 people without masks and not socially distancing using equipment to make the video.

Wendy Davy s dog Buster was dangerously out of control in Crowborough. Buster bit Kelly Eastwood, causing her an injury, Brighton Magistrates Court heard. So 61-year-old Davy has been ordered to keep Buster in check, or he will be put down. The new rules state he must be kept in a safe environment where there is no chance of accidental escape . It means Davy will have to keep Buster in a reinforced crate in her kitchen, and keep the door firmly closed when visitors arrive at her flat. Buster must not be able to see visitors as this may cause him to become agitated.

Their next court appearance is on 13 April 2021. Police in the Eastern Cape have arrested two suspects in their 50s who allegedly tried to fraudulently apply for South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) grants. Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the suspects were also found in possession of medication believed to have been stolen. “It is alleged that on 20 January 2021, Nowhle Ngcelwane, 55, and Andile Andries Heshu, 54, and one other woman, 56, were at the Sassa office in Koyana Street in Zwide to make an application for the grant. Hove rape charge after images found in investigation

A MAN has been charged with rape and sexual assault against a woman in Hove. This comes after a Sussex Police investigation uncovered a series of images which were found on an electronic device. The woman is 18 and is currently receiving support from specially trained officers. Police believe the sexual offences took place over a two year period which began around June 2019. Daniel Curtis of Goldstone Way in Hove has been charged with three counts of rape, seven counts of sexual assault by touching and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without their consent. The  38-year-old appeared before Brighton Magistrates Court on Saturday and has been remanded to appear at Lewes Crown Court on February 15. 

Police officers and paramedic attacked at Brighton hospital

A woman has been charged with assaulting two police officers and a paramedic at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton A WOMAN claiming she had Covid-19 shoved a police officer then spat at another during an abusive outburst at a hospital. The officers had intervened after hearing the woman behaving aggressively towards staff at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton at 8.30pm yesterday. A Sussex Police spokesman said: Officers heard a disturbance and found a woman behaving aggressively towards staff. Officers intervened and one PC was pushed and another PC spat at by the suspect who said she had Covid-19 and continued to shout abusive language.
