Frustrated Bargara residents are continuing to mount pressure on the state government to conduct safety upgrades to the intersection of Bargara Rd and Hughes Rd. Concerned parents met with Burnett MP Stephen Bennett on Wednesday to present a petition of 1200 signatures pushing for something to be done about the dangerous intersection. However in a letter to Mr Bennett, Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the government s position on upgrades to the road remained unchanged with no plans for this intersection at this time . Local dad Jason Taylor said it was frustrating the government didn t see the intersection as a priority.
 Annastacia Palaszczuk s continued refusal to admit a personal email discussing her director-general was work-related and a breach of integrity rules suggests she s not fair dinkum or fit for office , the Opposition says. Opposition Leader David Crisafulli claimed the Premier s denials over the email integrity saga were murky and getting murkier every day as she shut down questions over whether or not her answer to parliament that she had never used an email for official purposes still stood. The Premier referred to legal advice from her Solicitor-General Sandy Thompson that found four emails between Ms Palaszczuk and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey weren t official public records.
It included the troubled intersection and the Churchill and Dunning Street intersection with Palmwoods-Montville Road. Palmwoods police officer Sergeant Kevin Crowley and the town s businesses have also backed calls for safety upgrades with roundabouts, traffic lights and more parking options among their suggestions. Mr Powell said while there had been modifications to the site, there was one big issue stopping a permanent solution. There has been minor modifications around stop signs and sight lines made but we kept getting told that the full solution needed to wait until the rail duplication project came through, Mr Powell said. The reason we were told that was the rail line would be shifted and would remove it from that area where the intersection is.
