(WECT) - Community members ages 12-15 are now eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at Brunswick County Health Services’ vaccine clinic, county officials announced Friday. Vaccine appointments can be made online here or by calling the Public Health Call Line at 910-253-2339 and selecting option 2 (open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays). Starting May 18, all vaccination appointments scheduled through Brunswick County Health Services will take place at the clinic at Brunswick Community College, located at 50 College Road NE in Bolivia.

(WECT) - Brunswick County Health Services launched a new online scheduling system today to schedule appointments for COVID-19 vaccines. All adults aged 16 and older in Groups 1 through 5 are now eligible to schedule an appointment, which are available to book beginning this week. Individuals can also select which type of vaccine they want based on availability. Individuals can book appointments with Brunswick County Health Services’ online scheduling tool here. Any appointments at county clinics already made using other online scheduling tools will still continue as scheduled.

(Photo courtesy of New Hanover County) The nation’s massive vaccination effort hit a snag Tuesday when, citing safety concerns, two federal health agencies called for a pause in the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.  Officials at the CDC and FDA are reviewing six cases in which a rare and severe type of blood clot developed after the person received the J&J vaccine, which, unlike the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, requires only one dose.

Brunswick County opens vaccine appointments

According a county press release, more vaccines were received through the state, allowing Novant Health, Brunswick County Health Services and Dosher Memorial Hospital to schedule more first-dose appointments for this week. Vaccines will be administered at Brunswick Community College Williamson Auditorium in the parking lot. Currently, health care workers, people 65 or older and Starting Thursday, people in Group 4 become eligible for the vaccine as well. The group includes residents of close group living settings, essential workers, and people ages 16-64 with at least one high-risk medical conditions. Have tips or ideas?
