Driver pronounced dead after one-vehicle accident

Batesville, IN On Thursday evening, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene of a one-vehicle accident on Five Point Road. Through their investigation, Deputies determined that Zachery L. Fledderman, 36,  of Indianapolis, was driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey westbound on Five Point Road, when his vehicle went off of the south side of the roadway, striking two large trees. Fledderman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Batesville Fire Department, Batesville E.M.S., and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office. The accident is still under investigation.

In photographs, one of the first things you notice about Casey Goodson is the hair. On those instances it wasn’t braided down or tucked beneath a motorcycle helmet, Goodson’s hair generally flowed wild and free, his long, untamed black curls operating as a billowing extension of his personality. “His hair would bounce when he walked. And when he was mad, he’d walk fast, and his hair would bounce fast,” said Goodson’s mother, Tamala Payne. “He cut it a few times when he got tired of it, but the day he’d cut it he’d be like, ‘I’m about to let my hair grow back.’ He always kept his hair. He loved his hair. It was always wild and all over the place.”

Coroner Says Franklin County Suicides Up Among Youngest And Oldest

The Franklin County Coroner says suicide statistics for the first three quarters of 2020 show an overall decrease, but increases among the youngest and oldest residents.  Suicides among people aged 25 to 64 has decreased from 76% of 2019 s numbers to 53% of the 109 suicides from January to September, 2020.  But the percentage of suicides among people under 25 increased dramatically, from 13 to nearly 26%.   Similarly, suicides among residents 65 and above nearly doubled in that time period, from 10.4 to just over 21%.  Other demographic markers, like gender and ethnicity, were similar to previous years. Dr. Anahi Ortiz says the numbers are consistent with a CDC survey last summer that found younger adults as well as adult caregivers, were experiencing more mental health issues, as well as substance abuse and suicidal thoughts.  And she warns that experts believe the mental health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, including suicide, are likely to be present for a long time an
