Authorities identify man stabbed to death in N.J. home
Updated May 18, 2021;
Authorities identified the man stabbed to death early Tuesday at his Somerset County home as a 23-year-old Franklin Township resident.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 call shortly after midnight about a man in distress after an altercation at a residence on Holland Drive in the township, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson. At the scene, officers found Jamari Stephenson stabbed “numerous” times in the home, Robertson said. Despite efforts by police and emergency medical services, Stephenson died at the scene, authorities said.
Investigators have not released a possible motive for the killing and no suspects were immediately identified. A prosecutor’s office spokesman previously said Stephenson was attacked outside his home and managed to make it back inside.
