COVID-19 numbers continue to rise at Franklin Pierce University

The number of COVID-19 positives on the Franklin Pierce University campus continue to rise, while students have been ordered to shelter-in-place.
As of Friday, students on the campus entered a remote learning phase for at least 10 days, and were ordered to remain in their dorm rooms and not mingle.
As of Tuesday, the campus reported 48 total active cases on the Rindge campus.
“All students who remained on campus, as well as our commuter students, are being tested today,” Franklin Pierce University Marketing Director Marissa Colcord said in an email to the Ledger-Transcript Wednesday. “We are also offering time today for faculty and staff to receive testing. Two Belchertown High School student-athletes recently took the next step in their athletic careers by committing to play collegiate athletics.
Coaches at the school lauded the Belchertown athletic experience, helping both student-athletes find great success after their high school seasons came to an end.

The Northeast-10 Conference council of presidents voted virtually Monday afternoon to resume spring sports competition, according to a release from the conference.
The conference intends to sponsor regular season and postseason play in lacrosse, among other sports. Competition is expected to begin in mid-March.
This is great news for teams appearing in the Nike / US Lacrosse Division I Preseason Top 20s. Le Moyne (No. 2) and Adelphi (No. 7) represent the men in the top 10, while Le Moyne (No. 3) and Adelphi (No. 4) are in the top 10 of the women s ranking.
