TribLIVE s Daily and Weekly email newsletters deliver the news you want and information you need, right to your inbox. Traci Eshelman Ramey would be an excellent school board member for the Franklin Regional School District. She is a self-starter and problem-solver committed to education. Ramey started a local company that taught foreign language skills to children because she understands the value of bilingualism in children at an early age. She has advocated for schools to address the challenges with common core integration, covid-19 and access to education, and inclusion for all students. Her work within a school system includes addressing homeless students’ needs and advocating for assistive technology for students with disabilities. She believes in collaboration and teamwork, which is why she worked with Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Forest Hills, on career and technical training to support future careers for students with disabilities.

Murrysville will hold public hearing on earned-income tax hike proposal

Patrick Varine | Tribune-Review   TribLIVE s Daily and Weekly email newsletters deliver the news you want and information you need, right to your inbox. Murrysville council will take public comment March 3 on what could be its first tax increase in 13 years. The public hearing will explore a proposal to double earned-income taxes from the current 0.5% to 1%. “This goes back to our fiscal analysis and the need to identify alternate revenue sources,” Chief Administrator Jim Morrison said at council’s Feb. 3 meeting. “Our original projection was to start doing that in 2023; then covid came.” Morrison said earned-income tax has become a major revenue source for the municipality.
