In a step toward criminal justice reform, the state House of Representatives was debating Thursday evening over legislation that would erase the criminal records of more than 300,000 Connecticut residents for misdemeanors and relatively minor crimes under a “clean slate” bill.
But, with his various coronavirus advisors arrayed across the Zoom screen, Lamont himself posed a question: Was Connecticut declaring victory too soon?
As part of its annual competition, the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists awarded the Courant the Stephen A. Collins Public Service Award for a collection of the newspaper’s coronavirus coverage titled “From deaths to lost jobs to health care, the coronavirus has changed our way of life in Connecticut.”
