The fundraiser is set for Feb. 20 from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. A $12 donation gets a barbecue pulled pork meal with two side dishes, and $8 gets a similar meal with one side dish.
The event takes place at the American Legion Post No. 0230, 20370 SE Hawthorne Road.
Checks made out to the American Legion with a notation for Annette Miller fund will be accepted, as will cash. The money is being raised to benefit Miller s two children, said Ken Krug, the post commander. The Keystone Heights American Legion Post No. 0202 and the Hampton Veterans Memorial Fund also are participating.
Alachua County grand jury indicts two for murder
A Gainesville man was indicted Thursday on murder and other charges for the shooting death of a his girlfriend and their infant on Dec. 4, the Eighth Circuit State Attorney’s Office reported in a news release.
Kivi Jacquis Ellis, 26, was indicted for two counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of child abuse and resisting arrest without violence.
The grand jury also indicted Brandon Michael Martin, 31, for first-degree murder, grand theft of a motor vehicle and tampering with physical evidence in the death of his former girlfriend, the release states.
