Which May Performances Will Have the Biggest Impact on Cubs Prospect Rankings?

Five Stars of the Cub Farm, 5/27/21: Hughes, Aliendo, Hill, Rucker, Amaya

Honorable Mention: Matteo Bocchi and Adrian Sampson With Shelby Miller lost in the 40-man crunch, the Iowa Cubs don’t have five starters right now. Sampson, signed just weeks ago, stepped up and allowed just 1 run over 4.2 innings. Respect. Bocchi, meanwhile, was asked to enter the South Bend game during a rainy first inning after Ryan Jensen was removed. The Cubs have a rule that if you’ve thrown 30 pitchers in an inning and aren’t yet out of it, you come out of the game. And Jensen had no feel pitching in the rain and cold last night, allowing three walks, a home run and two strikeouts. In came Bocchi, the Italian sidearmer, who ate 4.1 innings and allowed South Bend to get out of the game. (They lost it in a rain-shortened affair)

The South Bend Cubs Just Got Into a Full-on, Benches-Clearing Brawl

I was following the farm system action while watching the big league Cubs game, and here I thought the Brennen Davis homer was going to be the big highlight from the High-A South Bend Cubs game. Or the fact that the Cubs came back from a 7-0 deficit to ultimately win the game. Nope. It was the benches-clearing brawl – actual brawling occurred – that just went down. It’s rare enough to see any kind of on-field fighting in the minors, but this was on another level. This is madness, with punches thrown, guys tossed to the dirt, mini doggy piles happening. Heck, you can even see at one point someone from Fort Wayne throws a baseball that hits a South Bend player in the head (after ricocheting off his own teammate?):

Copper & Flame to offer unique bar experience in Over-the-Rhine

Copper & Flame to offer unique bar experience in Over-the-Rhine and last updated 2021-05-25 13:57:15-04 CINCINNATI — Kathy O Connell had no plans to open her own self-pour beer and cocktail bar in Cincinnati before taking a trip to visit a cousin in Chicago a few years ago. I went two and a half, almost three years ago now and visited him in Chicago and he said, Hey, I have this bar I want to take you to, O Connell said. That bar was Tapster, an early adopter of new technology that allowed customers to pour their own beer and pay by the ounce using a radio frequency technology card. Tapster opened its first location in 2017.
