SADANGA, Mountain Province – Two tourists from Manila were arrested after were caught with more than P3 million worth of dried marijuana in a police checkpoint in Sitio Ampawelin, Poblacion, this town, Friday.
Police Regional Office-Cordillera chief Police Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee identified the suspects as Louigie Erguiza Param and Bernard Hope Poyaoan Bravo II, both 22-years-old and residents of Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Lee said that prior to their arrest, the Sadanga Municipal Police Station received a tip about marijuana bricks being transported from Kalinga.
Immediately, coordination was made with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Mountain Province and nearby police units for the establishment of a checkpoint in Sitio Ampawilen where they flagged down a black Toyota sedan.

Police disarm Zambo anti-narcotics chief
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police disarmed the
anti-narcotics chief of the local police force after he was tested positive for
alleged illegal drug use, officials said.
Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Ylagan, the
regional police director, said Major Jivertson Pelovello, who heads the
Zamboanga City Police Drug Enforcement Unit, is now with Regional Personnel
Holding and Accounting Section and is undergoing pre-charge investigation and
summary dismissal proceedings.
“Pelovello has been disarmed of his
issued firearms and slapped with corresponding administrative charges,” Ylagan
said in his report to National Police Chief, Gen. Debold Sinas who ordered the
regional police to immediately take Pelovello in restrictive custody.

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Members of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera are negative for illegal drugs use after random drug tests were conducted by the Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO) in a bid to weed out drug users among its ranks.

Police Brig. Gen. R’win Pagkalinawan, regional director, said the random drug test is part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) intensified internal cleansing. Personnel who will test positive for drug use will be administratively charged and subjected to summary dismissal procedures.
