More Birthdays: Lewis County records no child deaths in 2020; campaign seeks to raise awareness

WATERTOWN â As the new year gets underway after the whirlwind that was 2020, a milestone is being celebrated for the year unlike any other: zero child fatalities occurred in Lewis County. To celebrate the milestone, the Victims Assistance Centerâs Regional Child Fatality Review Team is launching the first year of the More Birthdays campaign. The ultimate goal of the campaign, according to Review Team Coordinator Jenna M. Ellinger, is having children live to have more birthdays, and prevent the deaths that can be easily avoided. âI actually heard the more birthdays slogan on a conference call that I was on,â she said. âI thought thatâs great, because I think that is the ultimate goal here â children love all the things that are involved in birthdays.â
