RRTS to adopt European signalling tech

The country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is set to use an advanced signalling and train control system, said officials of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
According to the NCRTC, the RRTS will adopt a modern European Train Control System Level 2 signalling over the long-term evolution communication backbone with the adoption of state-of-art Hybrid Level 3. “Adoption of this signalling technology adds to the distinction of RRTS, as the first technologically advanced rail network in India will be operational with a design speed of 180 km/hr,” the NCRTC stated.

New Delhi: The construction on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is in full swing. In fact, the first depot has started taking shape in Uttar Pradesh s Ghaziabad. The 82-km project being implemented by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has started the construction at Duhai in Ghaziabad, which will have the capacity for stabling of 12 RRTS trains, three inspection bay lines and two workshop lines of the standard gauge with a running test track of around one km.

NEW DELHI, Dec 28: Inaugurating India’s first-ever driverless train operations on the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his government unlike its predecessors has taken growing urbanisation as an opportunity and asserted that metro train services will be extended to 25 cities by 2025 from the current 18.
In his addresss via video-conferencing, he said the launch of the driverless train and start of the National Common Mobility Card, also inauguarated by him on Monday, at the Airport Express Line of the Delhi Metro are an attempt to make urban development future ready.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated full-time operations of driverless trains on the Delhi Metro-Magenta Line on Monday. Highlighting his association with this project, Modi said, “I had the privilege of inaugurating the Magenta Line about three years ago. Today again, on this route, the country s first-fully automated metro is being inaugurated.” Trial runs for driverless trains had begun in May 2016, for which 14 high-tech trains were ferried from South Korea. There was a mishap during the trial on December 20, 2017 when one of the trains crashed through a wall. It was later concluded that there was human error that led to the minor accident while the train was being taken for a wash.

New Delhi [India], December 28 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded India s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project, saying that it would reduce the travel time from Delhi to Meerut to under an hour. Several transport developments are being executed across the country. One of them is RRTS that will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Meerut, Prime Minister Modi said at the inauguration of Delhi Metro s first driverless train from Jasola Vihar-Shaheen Bagh Metro Station.
As per a statement, the RRTS, the first-of-its-kind project being implemented in the country, will provide regional connectivity to NCR with an operational speed of 160 kilometers per hour.
