SAN FRANCISCO, May 5 (Xinhua) U.S. San Francisco Mayor London Breed on Wednesday announced the awarding of 3.75 million U.S. dollars to serve the city s Black and African American small business community.
This investment by the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) and the San Francisco Human Rights Commission (HRC) is part of the Dream Keeper Initiative, which is reinvesting 120 million dollars from law enforcement into San Francisco s African American community, according to the announcement. Across this country, and in our city, we ve seen how the Black community s economic growth and prosperity has historically been disrupted and marginalized, said Breed. This funding is part our efforts to undo the harm of generations of disinvestment and economic inequities.

San Francisco moved into the state s yellow COVID-19 pandemic reopening tier Tuesday, the first Bay Area county to do so since the state s stay-at-home order was lifted in January.
The move to the yellow tier will allow San Francisco to expand indoor operating capacities for most business sectors to at least 50 percent while also expanding capacities for live spectator events like sports and festivals.
Bars that do not serve meals will also be able to reopen indoors in the yellow tier at 25 percent capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer.

SAN FRANCISCO, May 3 (Xinhua) U.S. San Francisco Mayor London Breed on Monday announced the city is partnering with several local community-based organizations to help restaurants and other eligible businesses in need to apply for the federal Restaurant Revitalization Fund.
The Restaurant Revitalization Fund is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi championed in Congress, and will provide grants to help restaurants, bars, and other eating and drinking businesses stay open, according to the announcement.
This 28.6-billion-U.S.-dollar program, administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA), will provide eligible businesses with funding equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss in 2020.
