Kanihar Lake project to come up in city before Maha Kumbh-2025 | Allahabad News

preparing for kumbh Prayagraj: As the state government plans to organise the Maha Kumbh, 2025, on a mega level, the district administration is also gearing up to develop several areas for tourist attractions. One such project is the Kanihar City Lake project which will be developed in a joint effort of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA). Proposed in an area of 65.68 hectares (over 6,50,000 square metres) of the vacant land near Jhunsi and Andawa villages, hardly a few kilometres from the heart of Sangam city, the Kanihar City Lake project will soon become the favourite picnic spot for the residents of the city.

Prayagraj: After a hue and cry was raised over the burial of bodies on the banks of Ganga during the severe second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the police have roped in newly elected gram pradhans of 283 villages located on the banks of the Ganga along with the officials of various government departments, and volunteers associated with different NGOs to create mass awareness for maintaining cleanliness on Ganga ghats and plantation in four districts of the range including Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Kaushambi and Pratapgarh districts. More importantly, cops with the help of newly elected gram Pradhans would also be taking up a mega awareness campaign for not burying bodies on the banks of Ganga and take up proper cremation of bodies.

Prayagraj: Flood water inundates mass burial site at Phaphamau | Allahabad News

This increase of volume of water by around two meters has inundated hundreds of graves, which earlier faced the threat of getting exposed by the strong currents of Ganga. PRAYAGRAJ: The rising level of flood water in river Ganga has inundated the vast area, situated between the two sides of Phaphamau bridge which was the site for mass burial. Earlier, the strong currents were fast eroding the banks on the city side of the Phaphamau ghat because of, which numerous bodies were getting exposed. The site, which recently hogged the national limelight, lies in the vast sandy area between the Phaphamau road bridge and the old Curzon bridge. The flood situation can be gauzed by the fact that the level of water of river Ganga at Phaphamau was 76.67 meters on June 20 and 76.70 meters on June 21. However, it has increased to 78.32 as of 4:00 pm on Monday.
