Woman Sentenced to Jail for False Rape Accusation Rolls Eyes in Court

Police say Yovino, of South Setauket, New York, was attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield when she reported being raped by two school football players in 2016, but later admitted making up the story. The football players were never arrested, but both withdrew from the school while facing possible discipline. One player said in court Thursday that the allegations damaged his life, including forcing him to leave school. Yovino s attorney, Ryan O Neill, said the apparent eye rolls were a non-story, saying in a lengthy statement, The claims that Nikki rolled her eyes in some sort of defiance of the process is false.  

Mayor Ganim of Bridgeport reapplies to get law license back

Updated: 5:03 PM EST February 16, 2021 BRIDGEPORT, Conn The mayor of Connecticut’s largest city has launched a second attempt to get his law license reinstated, more than a decade after he finished a seven-year prison sentence for corruption. State court officials announced Tuesday that Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim filed an application for reinstatement as an attorney last week in Bridgeport Superior Court.  Ganim was disbarred after being convicted in 2003 of corruption while serving as mayor. Fairfield police Lt. Antonio Granata said Clinton Edwards, 50, was arrested and charged with third-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny on Dec. 18. Granata said officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Walgreens located on Kings Highway East on June 22.
