They say the owner might not have known there was a seal on the slipway this morning – and have urged all who walked their dogs along this stretch to check their pets for injuries. A Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue spokesperson said: “We was contacted early this morning regarding a seal at Cleethorpes Beach who had come to the top of the slipway.

The desperate rescue attempt of a minke whale stranded on a Fife beach has come to a tragic end with the mammal having to be humanely killed. A six hour multi-agency operation involving British Divers Marine Life Rescue, BDMLR, the coastguard, Police Scotland and Scottish SPCA, was brought to a sad conclusion shortly after 3pm on Saturday when a trained marksman ended the whale’s misery. Volunteers had worked throughout the day at the beach in Dalgety Bay to try and re-float the 3.7mtr long minke calf, thought to be less than a year old.

A multi-agency rescue operation is underway to save a whale found stranded on a beach in Fife. The alarm was raised at around 9am after a young minke whale, thought to be less than a year old, was found languishing at the waters edge on a beach in Dalgety Bay on Saturday morning. The coastguard and as well representatives from Scottish SPCA and a team of experts from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue, BDMLR, were called to coastal spot at The Bridges in Dalgety Bay.
