North West police have arrested a 51-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and murdering his former girlfriend’s seven-year-old daughter on Thursday.
Visible head injuries
The suspect was arrested after Keitumetse Tumelo’s half-naked body was found with visible head injuries in bushes in Letlhabile.
“According to information at our disposal, Keitumetse Tumelo was last seen alighting from a taxi on Tuesday, 22 June 2021. However, she did not arrive home and her mother, with the assistance of neighbours, searched everywhere, but the search did not yield results,” police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Amanda Funani said.
Tumelo’s mother reported her disappearance to the police which registered a missing person’s enquiry on Tuesday night.

A businessman and a major supplier of dagga around the country was granted bail on Thursday after being arrested during a takedown operation by the Hawks in North West on Tuesday.
The accused and his accomplices are facing charges of dealing in dagga, cultivation of dagga, fraud, and money laundering to the value of approximately R10 million.
The accused Russel de Beer (49), Archibald Mogale (34), and Charné Steyn (27) appeared before the Brits Magistrate s Court following their arrests in Britz and Hartbeespoort Dam respectively during an operation by the Hawks, assisted by members of the Local Criminal Records Centre and Forensic Science Laboratory.
