DePaul’s Vice President of Enrollment Management Soumitra Ghosh joined DePaul’s Student Government Association during its general body meeting Thursday providing members with an update about the university’s enrollment numbers for spring and fall 2021.
According to Ghosh, the university will end spring quarter with a total headcount of 19,012 students, which was 97 percent of DePaul’s budgeted goal of 19,597 students but 2.7 percent behind compared to spring quarter last year.
But DePaul’s budgeted goal for this quarter was 3.5 percent lower than that of last year.
Some of DePaul’s colleges have not met DePaul’s budgeted enrollment goals.

Some highlights have emerged from among the reports. Division of Institutional Advancement indicated a strong fundraising year despite the global pandemic, with figures indicating generous giving going into 2021 as well.
Department of Athletics relayed a well-controlled environment that saw fewer COVID-19 cases than average campuses’ athletics as well as yet another winning season including the awarding of the Peach Belt Conference Championship in Women’s Cross Country for the third straight year. The Board also approved moving forward with the Lacrosse field.
Division of Enrollment Management announced a favorable outlook for the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year with increases year-over-year in applications, acceptances and deposits.
New student enrollment at WIU continues upward trend

MACOMB/MOLINE Thanks to considerable recruitment efforts by Western Illinois University s Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions and Enrollment Management, there are 44 new freshmen who have enrolled at WIU for Spring 2021 (29, Spring 2020), and 328 new graduate students have started at WIU this semester (209, Spring 2020). Two hundred and eighteen (218) new transfer students have enrolled in Spring 2021 (204, Spring 2020). The University s Spring 2021 total enrollment remains steady, decreasing by 29 students to 6,965 (6,994, Spring 2020).
In spite of the ongoing pandemic, the drive and dedication that WIU students have shown the past semester, combined with support initiatives put into place from the Division of Enrollment Management, Retention Initiatives and throughout the University, the fall-to-spring retention for new, full-time freshmen has remained stable at 89.3%.
