The Washington State University Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement (DAESA) celebrated faculty, staff, and students whose contributions throughout academic year 2020-21 promoted student, teaching, and learning success and excellence university wide.

The Richard G. Law Excellence Award for Undergraduate Teaching is presented to
Allyson Beall King, scholarly associate professor and associate director of undergraduate programs in the School of the Environment in the College of Arts and Sciences.

King is commended for having developed and refined an innovative student-centered pedagogy that is process-oriented, collaborative, experiential, and curiosity-driven. The award selection committee noted her attention to issues of belonging, equity, and retention, and that she places top priority on welcoming non-majors into the world of environmental science.
FRESNOI â The eight schools and colleges at Fresno State, along with the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, each selected an outstanding student to honor as part of the class of 2021 Undergraduate Deansâ Medalists.
The deans selected an undergraduate and graduate medalist based on academic excellence, community involvement and other achievements. In mid-May, one medalist from the group below will be announced as the Presidentâs Medalist, the Universityâs top academic honor for an undergraduate student.
Kingsburg native Caleb Charles, a College of Arts and Humanities student, has been named on the list. Â
Charles earned his B.A. in philosophy, pre-law option, and a certificate in social justice and social change with a 4.0 GPA. He was introduced to philosophy while studying at Whittier College where he played football on scholarship. Charles suffered a career-ending injury during his first season and returned home to heal. Binghamton University students are known for going above and beyond, pushing themselves to be the best versions of themselves they can be. In turn, the University strives to make sure their accomplishments are recognized and rewarded.
In the past, some student awards were given out by the dean of students and the Campus Life Office. More recently however, Vice President of Student Affairs Brian Rose and Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Randall Edouard shared a vision for centralizing and expanding student awards.
In the spring of 2020, Rose and Edouard tasked different areas within the Division of Student Affairs and other University entities to develop awards that aligned with the themes and values of their areas and the University as a whole.
