UNCW and City of Wilmington Launch Pilot Shadowing Program for Student Leaders Monday, February 22, 2021 Five leaders in the UNCW Student Government Association will get an inside look at local government and policymaking as part of a new shadowing program. Each student will shadow an assigned City of Wilmington council member for two weeks during the spring semester. As part of the program, students will attend meetings and have the opportunity to work with city employees specialized in areas based on topics of interest of the council member. Students will give a presentation during a city council meeting to share learning outcomes, personal experiences and their future desire to engage in local government at the end of the program, said Jon Kapell, director for Campus Activities and Involvement in UNCW’s Division of Student Affairs.

McNair Achievement Program graduates will talk about their journeys to becoming faculty members at institutions across the country as part of National TRIO Day Celebration. Mapuana Antonio from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Majel Boxer from Fort Lewis College in Colorado, and Sylvia Mendez from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will lead the WSU TRIO McNair Scholars Alumni Faculty Panel Discussion on Tuesday, Feb. 23 from noon to 1 p.m. on Zoom. It is one of several events planned to highlight WSU’s TRIO programs and the impact they have on student success.

College reports 125 conduct violations during fall semester; launches COVID conduct dashboard – The Bowdoin Orient

February 18, 2021 In an effort to be more transparent about COVID-19 policy violations, the College has launched a COVID-19 Student Conduct Dashboard on February 16. The dashboard reports the number of students found responsible for COVID-19 policy violations and who have been removed from campus for such violations during the spring semester. So far this semester, the College has found three students responsible for a COVID-19 violations, and all three resulted in removal from campus and withdrawal of on-campus privileges. During the fall 2020 semester, 125 students were found responsible for COVID-19 policy violations. These violations were not publicly reported to the community. In a meeting at the end of the fall 2020 semester between the Bowdoin Student Government (BSG) and the Division of Student Affairs, BSG President Marcus Williams ’21 raised the possibility of including a conduct dashboard to provide more accountability.
