State Launches Website Showing Vaccine Eligibility
(Raleigh, NC) North Carolina residents now have an easy way to know when they re COVID-19 vaccine-eligible. Health and Human Services launched a website yesterday that will notify users statewide exactly when they can receive a dose. Current groups eligible for the vaccines include older residents, healthcare workers and long-term care facility residents. Those who use the website will receive a notification when their group is added to the eligibility list.
Customers To Save Money After Duke Energy Settlement
(Asheville, NC) Duke Energy customers could soon see some savings thanks to a settlement. North Carolina Attorney General David Stein spearheaded a deal yesterday which will reduce the burden on customers as Duke cleans up coal ash over the next decade. FSU celebrates 170th anniversary over the weekend

Across campus this past weekend, on Jan. 22-24, students were seen everywhere celebrating Florida State University s 170-year anniversary from its establishment as a seminary in 1851.
Known originally as the West Florida Seminar, FSU did not become the Florida State College for Women until 1905. It stayed that way until May 15, 1947 when the college officially became known as Florida State University and started accepting all genders.
To celebrate 170 years of success, multiple organizations across campus held socially-distanced events and activities that students could participate in to learn more about FSU and commemorate its history. Students were encouraged to post about what makes FSU special to them, and to share favorite memories as well as dress in garnet and gold for the weekend.
Dr. Vince Miller, vice president for student affairs at VSU, has had a busy year due to COVID-19, but he hasn’t allowed that to put a damper on his passion for VSU’s students.

When the Student Recreation Center opened its doors 20 years ago today, it quickly became one of the busiest places on the Pullman campus and one of the most admired recreation centers in the nation.
University Recreation leaders Joanne Greene, director of programming, and Jeff Elbracht, director of facilities, were working as graduate assistants when the SRC was built and vividly remember the mad rush leading up to its scheduled opening on Jan. 19, 2001.
“Joanne and I stopped by the building during the first week of January and plywood was still covering the entrance to the building–the front doors weren’t attached yet,” Elbracht said. “Also, the equipment began arriving before the flooring was complete, so there was a scramble to get that done.”
After a comprehensive national search, Wanda Heading-Grant has been selected as Carnegie Mellon University s inaugural vice provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and chief diversity officer. Heading-Grant, who is currently vice president for DEI at the University of Vermont, will begin her new role at Carnegie Mellon on April 1. She will also hold a faculty appointment as Distinguished Service Professor in the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy.
During her 30-year tenure at the University of Vermont, Heading-Grant has advised senior leadership on essential policies, programs and strategies to achieve inclusive excellence while ensuring every member of the university community received the support necessary to thrive. She established programs and policies fundamental to the advancement of DEI, including tools to enhance and innovate employee performance and professional development opportunities.
