More than 30 events planned in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr s birthday | WSU Insider

January 14, 2021 By Steve Nakata, Division of Student Affairs Campuses across the Washington State University system have planned more than 30 events in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. The events will span several months and feature authors, songwriters, rappers, visual artists and films. The full list of events can be viewed at the MLK Program website. The celebration kicks-off with Virtual Bingo for Student Groups on Wednesday, Jan. 20 and concludes with Tongan Visual Artist Robin Fifita on Friday, April 30. Scheduled in between are a wide variety of events including several keynote addresses, beginning with Bree Newsome Bass on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m.

Campus Housing adopts to new quarantine protocol for winter quarter

The DePaulia Alayne Trinko, Staff Writer|January 10, 2021 To ring in the second quarter of the school year, DePaul’s Department of Housing opened its doors to another handful of students amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Department of Housing extended the offer for students with an active housing agreement to return to campus under a few conditions. According to the Department of Housing, all students returning to campus will live in a single room with a private bathroom. They must participate in a 14-day quarantine from the beginning of their move-in date either Jan. 3 or 4 until Jan. 17. In addition, those students must attend a required Covid-19 testing appointment within the two-week quarantine period.

Helping students with a range of issues January 8, 2021 Ansley Long ensures students get assistance for every possible problem Ansley Long can handle pretty much any student problem, from financial and mental health issues to cases of slipping grades or students who are having trouble getting involved on campus. “There’s nothing we can’t help with,” said Long, a case manager at Student Care and Outreach in the Division of Student Affairs located within the Tate Student Center. If Long can’t help, she’ll find someone who can. Since the pandemic hit, they’ve added COVID-related issues to their workload as more students have been showing up in need of assistance via DawgCheck, UGA’s COVID report and information system. “We’re able to provide them support for those needs, whatever that may be, from ‘I don’t even know where to go get a test’ to ‘I’m going to miss some class and I need someone to reach out to my faculty for me,’” said Long.
