Fall River man sentenced in connection to multiple car thefts The Herald News A 26-year-old Fall River man who was involved in the theft of eight motor vehicles and the attempted theft of three others last August, was convicted of a litany of crimes recently and sentenced to serve five years in state prison, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced. Alexander Amaral pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court earlier this month to indictments charging him with eight counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, four counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle during the nighttime with the intent to commit a felony, two counts of larceny over $1,200 and one count each of breaking and entering into a building with intentions to commit a felony and larceny from a building.

Fall River Repeat Domestic Abuser Sentenced to Prison FALL RIVER A 38-year-old Fall River man who violently assaulted his girlfriend on a public street last April was sentenced last week to serve four-and-a-half to six years in state prison, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Kevin Gray, Jr. pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court to indictments charging him with assault and battery on a family or household member - subsequent offense, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. On April 29, 2020 at around 1:30 p.m., Gray was walking with his girlfriend. Gray and his girlfriend then got into a verbal argument outside of Jay’s Liquor Store; within moments, Gray grabbed her head and slammed it into a brick wall. The victim lost consciousness and was found by first responders to be bleeding profusely from her head. She required 10 sutures to close the wound.

Brockton Man Accused of Hate Crime Deemed Dangerous A 34-year-old Brockton man who allegedly entered onto a Taunton couple s property and violently assaulted one of them in what is alleged to be a hate crime was deemed dangerous and ordered held without bail after a Superior Court Dangerousness Hearing was held earlier this month, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced. Michael Cates was indicted in November 2020 by the grand jury on charges of civil rights violation, assault and battery to intimidate with injury and aggravated assault and battery. He was also indicted for an assault and battery on a fellow inmate at the Bristol County House of Corrections. The jail assault occurred in August 2020, while the defendant was being held in relation to the alleged Taunton hate crime.

Ivan Keith convicted of Easton, Taunton rapes, to spend life in prison

FALL RIVER  A Maine man will spend what amounts to life in prison due to his age after recently being sentenced to an additional two to three decades in prison for rapes that occurred in Easton and Taunton in the 1990s. Ivan Keith, 63, formerly of Bridgewater, was convicted in Fall River Superior Court Tuesday of indictments charging him with five counts of aggravated rape, two counts of kidnapping, three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of threats and one count each of breaking and entering, failure to register as a sex offender, failure to provide DNA and perjury.
