The four appeared for the first time at Bristol Crown Court today, Tuesday March 2, and renewed their pleas of not guilty to a single charge of criminal damage in connection with the damage to the statue in June last year. A trial date has been set for December 13, with the case being heard by the Recorder of Bristol, Judge Peter Blair QC at Bristol Crown Court.

Rev Sue Parfitt said her Christian faith drove her to sit in the road and lock arms with a fellow campaigner on December 11 last year, in a protest about the Ministry of Defence’s contribution to the climate change, carbon emissions and the ‘catastrophic climate emergency we face’.
