It is currently vaccinating people age 65 and older, health care workers, and people in long-term care facilities, as well as other essential workers and those in the high-risk category. BBAHC s incident commander, Bernina Venua, said both IHS beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries can get the vaccine through the health corporation at no cost.

13 test positive for COVID in Dillingham area January 29th |   Thirteen people tested positive for COVID-19 in three communities in the Dillingham Census area last week between January 15-22. One case is in the city of Dillingham and is related to travel, according to the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation. The other 12 cases are located in two other communities in the area. The state reported 50 cases in the Dillingham area and two hospitalizations in the last 30 days. The health corporation is currently administering the COVID-19 vaccine to health care personnel, essential workers and seniors, and it is working to distribute the vaccine more widely.

Last Thursday s first group of people to get the vaccine were those 65 and older. After they got the shot, they waited on the high school bleachers as a precaution against any adverse reactions. Norm Anderson, 68, got one of the first doses of the Moderna vaccine. He said the clinic was timely and necessary, and that the process was smooth. It was wonderful, he said during the clinic. The people were nice, everything was ushered right along in good time. Got the shot. People were friendly and nice, clean. And now I m just in a holding pattern to go home.
